Table tennis is a sport which is rapidly growing in popularity because it is so fun and nearly everyone can play (for more info, see Table Tennis Network). In Utah there are some 70 active players who have national ratings, and there are two table tennis clubs sanctioned by the U.S.A.T.T. and several tournaments each year.
Salt Lake City: Wasatch Front Table Tennis Club has been an official table tennis club in Utah for the last twenty-five years. It is in a large gym with 10 tables and plays on Friday nights. Click here for more info.
North Utah Valley: Timpanogos Table Tennis Club located in Pleasant Grove is closed until some else feels like taking over the responsibility of running it. John Pratt who has run it for eight years will be spending much time out of town and can no longer run it. It has a minimum of 4 tables and can only play on Wednesday nights from 8:00-10:30 pm. Click here for more info, such as past tournament results.
Provo: The Utah Valley Table Tennis Club meets at the Eldred Senior Center, 270 West 500 North in Provo, Utah. They have eleven tables and play from 5:30-9:50 pm every Thursday. The cost is $2.50 nightly or $8 per month ($2 for students). Call Tom Hale (801-763-8362) or Grant Misbach (801-373-8009) for more info.
Ogden: The Ogden City Table Tennis Club has five tables and meets Mondays at the Riverdale Community Center (801-621-6084) at 6-8:45 p.m. (Summers 6-8 p.m.) at 4360 S. Parker Dr., Riverdale. The club also meets at the Marshall White Community Center at 28th Street & Lincoln Ave., Ogden, (801-629-8346) on Wednesdays from 6:00-8:00 pm, and Fridays from 1:00-3:00 pm. An associated activity is the Riverdale Community Center Tournament held on the second Wed 6-8 p.m. on even months (Feb, Apr, Jun, Aug, Oct, Dec), sponsored by the Community Center, not the Club. For further information contact John Mathis, 801-389-0367.
Salt Lake (Seniors): The Salt Lake Seniors Table Tennis Club (for 60 and over) plays Wed. afternoons beginning at 1:30 p.m. at the Mt. Olympus Senior Center at 1635 E. Murray-Holladay Road.
Cedar City: SUU Table Tennis Club welcomes all players at all levels. The club meets at varying times and venues to satisfy the schedules of students and residents of Southern Utah. Click here for more info.
This tournament will not be held this year because John Pratt retired last year and no one has stepped up to take it over.
